The Tote Business Intelligence team was established in 2021 and has made significant progress rolling out a BI strategy that puts data at the heart of decision making. In our first year as a team, we have rolled a suite of Power BI dashboards that are viewed more than 5,000 times a month as well as number of predictive analytics models and we are now looking to expand our team as we move into the next phase of our BI strategy.

About the role:

You will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of technical solutions for reporting and analytics projects, providing intelligent Power BI solutions which are relevant, up to date and insightful. You will have the opportunity to use some of the most innovative technologies available in the market, enhance your coding knowledge and learn how to work in an agile delivery team. There will be opportunities to specialise as you develop your skills and experience and become a subject matter expert.

Over time, you will become an expert in Power BI, SQL and DAX helping to develop, enhance and implement dashboards that drive decision making across all levels of the business. You will also partner with business teams to help them to self-serve for readily available, accurate data from the BI systems.

You will get the opportunity to work with a variety of business functions and grow a good understanding of how data is used across core business systems to drive business operations.

We are a team of over 170 people with our HQ based in Wigan, Greater Manchester (WN3 5AZ). The role will be 37.5 hours per week with core business hours 9am till 5pm. We offer a flexible hybrid working and a full induction, on the job training and development plan will be put in place for anyone who joins the team.

What you’ll need:

We are looking for candidates who have recently graduated or have 1 years’ experience in a transferable data role. The skills and experience we are looking for candidates to be able to demonstrate include:

  • Background in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics/statistics
  • Strong desire to work in Data/BI/Analytics with a strong motivation to learn new skills
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to simply and articulate complex domain areas to stakeholder
  • An effective problem solver with the ability to work under pressure and priorities
  • Ability to interpret data and drive business conclusions
  • A good team player with the ability to build effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience or exposure to working with SQL or other relevant coding languages such as DAX, Python would be advantageous
  • Experience or exposure to BI visualisation tools (Power BI is our core tool) or any other BI products would be advantageous  
  • Experience working with large data sets (>1m rows) would also be advantageous
