Yard Assistant is required to work alongside the Instructors at the British Racing School. This is a varied role that will involve assisting the Instructors during riding lessons, helping trainees to tack up and muck out, clipping, trimming horses and general yard duties. Someone that can ride racehorses to a good standard is desirable but not essential, ability to ride will be reflected in the salary offered.
The British Racing School is a teaching environment so it is essential that the successful candidate has an aptitude and willingness to work with young people. Patience and good communication skills along with team work are essential. There will be the opportunity to progress and take additional qualifications if desired. The School offers a generous pensions scheme and private healthcare.
Hours will be 08.30 to 16.30 Monday to Friday with one hour for lunch from 1-2pm. 1 weekend in 4 must be worked which is mornings only, 08.30 to 12.00 Saturday and 09.00 to 12.00 Sunday.
