Job Description and Duties

Role summary

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional who is ambitious, self-motivated and keen to progress & grow. You will be responsible, along with the Chief Operating Officer, for planning, executing and reporting on Pontefract Racecourse’s marketing strategy, both for racing and conferences & events. This will be across both physical and digital media.

The successful person will require:

  • passion for social media,
  • an eye for great content and be able to enhance the brand across these channels
  • imaginative flair for generating ideas
  • excellent IT and administration skills
  • meticulous attention to detail and excellent written skills.

They will also need to:

  • pride themselves on achieving high levels of customer satisfaction
  • be able to demonstrate an understanding of online marketing
  • possess exceptional communication skills and be able to manage relationships with external agencies
  • be an organised team player, self-motivated, show initiative and work well under pressure.

Experience of digital marketing is essential but while a basic knowledge of horse racing would be advantageous, it is not vital in this role.

Racing Season duties include, but will not be limited to:

  1. Managing all Social Media content – creating eye catching photographic and video content to produce daily posts whilst planning campaigns using scheduled/promoted posts.
  2. Producing monthly Newsletters that are distributed to the mailing list.
  3. Administering the online booking and ticketing system Writing Press Releases:
    for race meetings
    to promote the Racecourse news and events.
  4. Assisting with General Office admin including taking bookings, answering the phone, preparing mailshots etc
  5. Implementation of the Marketing Plan including:
  6. Managing all advertising (Press and Radio) Managing email and digital campaigns
  7. Managing billboard, advertising bike and other complementary advertising programmes along with new campaigns through the season.
  8. Compiling marketing literature (annual brochure, fixture list, race meeting flyers)
  9. Managing the website (updating CMS system)
  10. Emailing racegoers on receipt of booking and on the morning of their booked raceday
  11. Monitoring Google Analytics

    Developing the use of the Racecourse for non raceday events including, but not limited to:
    1. Conferences
    2. Banqueting Functions
    3. Caravan Rallies
    4. Outdoor cinema shows

The successful candidate will have the scope to develop other new events at the Racecourse to maximise use of the facilities.

Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with additional hours on racedays
