Trainee Groom

Nick Alexander is looking for an enthusiastic team-player to join the fun and friendly team at Kinneston in the role of Trainee Groom. 

You will join the team through our induction and mentoring process, initially shadowing one of our Assistant Barn Managers.  Depending on experience you may ride out up to 2-3 lots per morning and will assist the Yard Team with mucking out horses, taking horses on and off the horse walker, turning horses out in paddocks, haying and changing rugs.  In time you will be allocated 3-4 horses to look after and will learn to do everything with them including taking them to the races.

You will be supported by the Racing Industry’s Training and Development programme leading to formal qualification and will have the opportunity to attend one of the Racing Schools if you haven’t already done so.

Hours – 7am until 1pm and 3.30pm until 5.30pm five days per week, plus one five hour Sunday in four.

Remuneration – dependant on experience.

Holidays – 32 days paid holiday per annum.
