Sales Manager (Maternity Cover)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our great team here at Plumpton Racecourse, situated in the heart of the East Sussex countryside and at the foot of the South Downs. Working as part of a small but passionate team, you will be responsible for developing both the existing client base and securing new business on both racedays and non-racedays.

A progressive National Hunt course with a varied fixture list to suit corporate and private bookings, the role will actively sell hospitality boxes, restaurant space, race sponsorship and advertising hoardings to enhance the racedays, where you will actively host these clients. On the days we aren’t racing, the role will be to develop existing and new clients in the indoor and outdoor facilities on site.

Plumpton Racecourse is a hidden gem in the world of horseracing. The thrill of jump racing, the joy of a win, delicious food and drink, and stunning rural backdrop provide a memorable sporting experience for everyone from novice to racing expert. Plumpton races 17 times a year from September through to May, and with a track just over a mile round, we offer great viewing of the whole course.  You are also likely to be rubbing shoulders with the UK’s top trainers and jockeys who regularly come to Plumpton, and we are renowned as a nursery ground for the equine stars of the future. Plumpton Racecourse also boasts an extensive estate and many hospitality facilities, which makes the racecourse an ideal venue for Weddings, Banqueting and Events.

Your role will require excellent communication skills both verbal and written, be prepared to deliver the events you sell and grow revenue streams through all facets of the business. A strong phone manner, willingness to attend networking events and be a representative of the racecourse are a necessity.
