Following a substantive review led by the British Horseracing Authority, the Horserace Betting Levy Board and the Racing Foundation, representative organisations across the sport’s industry have agreed to establish a new function to collaboratively drive and coordinate development of initiatives and activities focused on recruitment, training and retention. The key outcomes for the newly created function will be to improve the sustainability of the workforce, establishing and meeting future needs and driving improved skills, engagement and wellbeing. Initial priority will be to lead the design and delivery of an industry people strategy, in consultation with racing’s stakeholders, with a set of KPIs that will transparently hold the function accountable. The function will then be responsible for making evidence-based funding decisions for partners and programmes to implement the strategy and deliver the outcomes.
To ensure the potential of this new function is realised, we are seeking a Chair to help to establish the Board. A committed leader with expertise across HR, education, programme design and/or culture transformation, the Chair will support and enable the People Director and guide strategic delivery. A contemporary, inclusive style will be required, and candidates must evidence the ability to lead effectively in the context of a developing organisation, thinking dynamically, with energy and enthusiasm, and managing competing priorities accordingly. You will have a substantial interest in people and the ability to act as an effective advocate and ambassador for British Horseracing, together with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
To apply, please submit a CV and covering letter, detailing how you fulfil the role description and personal specification to: https://candidates.perrettlaver.com/vacancies/ quoting reference 5984.
