One Team: Grounds Person

Based at: Sandown Park Racecourse

Hours:  40 hours per week, any 5 days from 7 with raceday cover

Contract type: Permanent

Want to be part of the team that delivers the renowned Coral-Eclipse Stakes, and the Betfair Tingle Creek Festival? We are currently recruiting for a Grounds Person to join the established team based at Sandown Park Racecourse.

Role summary

A vacancy has arisen for a driven and proactive team player to join the team at Sandown Park Racecourse. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the racing surface and grounds areas of the racecourse. To be successful in this role, a basic knowledge of turf husbandry and groundsmanship would be desirable, but a willingness to learn the required skills is more important. 

The successful candidate will;

• be responsible for the maintenance, preparation and repair of racing surfaces
• work with and maintain a variety of machinery
• be responsible for building and repairing National Hunt fences
• assist with the maintenance and cleaning of the stable yard, before and after racing  
• have a basic working knowledge of Health & Safety and demonstrate a willingness to follow regulations
• Possess a full UK driving licence

Spraying certificates (PA1, PA2a and PA6), a sports turf/horticulture/IOG qualification would be an advantage, but not a necessity. 

Due to the nature of this role, there will be a requirement to be available at weekends and evenings as and when required.
