Newbury Racecourse is an award-winning sporting venue with a multi-functional site playing host to c. 30 racedays per year, plus a wide range of other exciting non-racing events including: concerts, weddings, conferences, on-site hotel and our award-winning Rocking Horse Nursery.

We are seeking a Hospitality Sales Manager to work closely with the Head of Sales, taking a lead role in managing hospitality and maximising sales revenue and profitability from raceday hospitality boxes, restaurants, premium packages and ticketing. This is a maternity cover vacancy and as such the appointment will be made on a fixed term basis (anticipated 1-year).

The successful candidate in this role will;

  • Oversee the day-to-day sales activity for raceday hospitality boxes, dining, premium packages and ticketing to maximise revenue and deliver raceday targets
  • Work with the Head of Sales to create strategic plans, budgets and forecasts to ensure objectives and budgets are achieved and exceeded
  • Assist the Head of Sales in developing the internal sales team through effective delegation, coaching and mentoring. Preparing reports on request to demonstrate personal and team performance
  • Proactively lead an account management strategy for the team to build and enhance long term relationships with existing customers
  • Respond to and convert incoming enquiries for raceday hospitality boxes and restaurants
  • Prepare detailed and accurate proposals
  • Produce contract documents and invoices in a timely manner
  • Ensure the booking system is updated in real time to allow for accurate sales forecasting
  • On racedays meet and greet, troubleshoot and liaise with customers to deliver an exceptional customer experience

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Significant sales experience with a track record of delivering outstanding sales growth
  • Prior experience within the hospitality or sports industries would be advantageous
  • Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of selling and sales management
  • The ability to lead and inspire a team to over achieve sales targets
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills combined with a flair for customer interaction
  • Comprehensive understanding of budgets, forecasting and associated deliverables
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
