Racecard & Publication Coordinator

Salary: £20,400 to £25,000 per annum subject to experience

Key Responsibilities:

To undertake the compilation required in the daily production of racecards and the supply of racecard information to external racecard producers. 

 

  • Undertake the required racecard copy preparation, editorial, proofing, and checking ensuring that all work is carried out according to the racecourse’s specific instructions. 100% accuracy is required along with the ability to meet agreed timescales to ensure timely delivery of the racecards the following day.
  • Liaise with racecourse personnel, advertisers, and sponsors in an efficient and professional manner, ensuring that all requirements for each racecard have been completed 48hrs before raceday.
  • Ensure that every Racecards pagination is the most cost effective to produce for both Weatherbys and the racecourse and ensuring that racecourses are fully aware of the pagination of their Racecard on a meeting-by-meeting basis.
  • Ensure each individual racecourse’s data is kept up to date with the most recent racecard copy and ensure the removal of any outdated files from the racecourse directories.
  • Display an appropriate level of competence in all aspects of racecard compilation and be conversant and compliant with all racecard procedures in place within the area.
  • Liaise closely with other areas of the Printing Services department to ensure continuity of service is always maintained.
  • To research and write editorial content as and when required, including the sourcing of images from predetermined image libraries.
  • To assist with proof reading and checking of content for any job produced by the Printing Services department.
  • To provide support to other areas of the department as and when required.
  • To ensure the companies Health and Safety policy is adhered to.

Skill Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • You will possess strong interpersonal skills and be a team player.
  • The ability to work flexibly to strict deadlines, under pressure and have a keen eye for detail.
  • A keen interest in the horse racing industry is essential.
  • The ability to write accurate and meaningful editorials for use in racecards and Weatherbys web-based products.
  • Previous experience of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign would be beneficial but not essential as training will be given.
