Stud Hand

Derby winning Stud seeks a positive, keen, enthusiastic, capable, adaptable member of the team who is versatile with an excellent work ethic attitude and committed to providing exacting standards of care and attention.

Calm, confident, and competent in handling young and adult horses. The human interaction and handling of foals and youngsters forms the foundation for their future as race, domestic horses.

Duties to include:

• Basic horse handling
• Basic equine first aid, administering medication, bandaging, poultice application
• Feeding and haying
• Cleaning and maintaining stables, paddocks and equipment
• Basic exercising
• Assisting Vets and Farriers
• Take turns in covering “foaling-watch” which will involve night-shifts
• Prep/Sales Prep
• Grooming, lunging, leading, educating to walk and stand for parades, washing, cleaning boxes, rugging, mixing feeds, treating and medications, putting horses on/off a walker and all other horse care.
• Collect and record animal information, such as weight, size, physical condition, treatments received, medications given, and food intake.

You will also hold a driving licence, have good record keeping and time management.
