The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) is the governing and regulatory body for horseracing in Great Britain.  It is the BHA’s role to act for and on behalf of the whole sport, with a key objective being to ensure the highest standards apply on and away from the racecourse.

The BHA is looking to recruit an Executive Assistant, assisting the Director of Integrity & Regulation and Director of Equine Health & Welfare.  The EA will be the first point of contact both internally and externally. The role involves dealing proactively and effectively with a wide range of enquires promptly whilst supporting the Directors in their day-to-day activities. The EA will also have responsibility for the day-to-day operation of some BHA’s committees, providing secretariat support to the Integrity Advisory Committee, BHA Veterinary Committee and Whip Review Panel, along with others, ensuring they run efficiently, effectively, and that decisions and recommendations are properly recorded and followed through.  The role facilitates the work of the committees and their members to help them meet their objectives.

Key responsibilities will include management of the Directors schedules through effective planning and coordination of meetings, national and international travel. Organising agenda and itineraries for meetings and visits, co-ordinating and prioritising all proposed activity and to ensure all relevant issues are addressed.  To co-ordinate necessary papers, collating or preparing as appropriate.

We are looking for someone who is experienced in providing administrative support to senior level boards / committees in a professional and highly organised manner.   You will have excellent administrative and organisational skills, together with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines with minimal supervision. You will have advanced IT and keyboards skills and be a competent user of MS Office applications.

You will have experience of working in a complex multi stakeholder environment and dealing sensitively with information of a confidential nature.  Additionally, you will have an understanding of political sensitivities and governance requirements and ideally have an interest in British Horseracing.

To be successful in this role, you will be a good communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to write clear, concise and accurate documents to suit a range of purposes and audiences.  You will be confident building and managing collaborative relationships and dealing with stakeholders at all levels.  You will have a passion for providing excellent customer service, with good attention to detail and a flexible, confident and proactive approach that supports and enables others to be successful.

We acknowledge that having a diverse and inclusive workforce is fundamental to our success and we actively encourage and welcome applications from candidates of diverse cultures, perspectives, and experiences.  People with disabilities or from ethnically diverse communities are currently underrepresented in the organisation and therefore we welcome these candidates to apply.
