About the role

We have an incredible opportunity for a tech-savvy, racehorse obsessed administrator to join the team at Jockey Club Estates, based in Lambourn. We are looking for someone with a real passion for racing and racehorse training, as well as a strong background in administration and social media to be the first point of call for the Training Grounds Team and local racehorse trainers. You might not have worked in social media, but you will have a strong knowledge and interest of how to manage various social media platforms including; Instagram, Tiktok, Twitter, Facebook and others.

Lambourn Training Grounds is home to over 850 racehorses training over 600 acres of training grounds, managed by our Head of Operations and wider Training Grounds Team. Set on the Berkshire Downs with its varied gradients and centuries old downland turf, Lambourn possesses all the attributes needed to prepare equine athletes and it is no wonder it has become known as the ‘Valley of the Racehorse’.

The Office Manager will

  • Deliver an outstanding first impression of the Jockey Club to all business contacts, trainers, and visitors.
  • Provide effective administration support to the Head of Operations, including sorting and prioritising incoming mail, answering telephone calls, diary management, and filing.
  • Manage the ordering of workshop supplies, office equipment, fuel and raising pur chase orders.
  • Co-ordinate the servicing & maintenance of all plant and equipment with local dealers.
  • Record and monitor the use of the gallops by visiting trainers and point to pointers.
  • Grow Lambourn’s social media presence (currently Twitter, room for other platforms where applicable), linking up with similar industry, racecourses, machinery etc.
  • Build social media relationships with racing yards in Lambourn
  • Owners monthly/quarterly updates on the gallops, newsletter/press release
