About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Fleet Manager to join our Operations Team responsible for planning, directing, managing, coordinating and supervising the programs for acquisition, assignment, utilisation, maintenance, repair, replacement and disposal of fleet vehicles. This role also serves as the primary contact concerning the vehicle fleet and operations and will be the ultimate decision maker as to whether a vehicle is safe to have on the road.

The Fleet Manager will

• Liaising with the finance team, establish and monitor purchasing, operational and replacement strategies and practices to enable the most cost-effective operation for the Group (operating lease, finance lease, purchase, etc)

• Determine the appropriate allocation of fleet and equipment across the Group, ensuring all vehicles are appropriately maintained and operating optimally.

• Develop and administer Group wide vehicle / equipment asset management processes from procurement to disposal.

• Create vehicle purchase specifications for all Group sites.

• Working with H&S Team, develop and implement Group wide training modules for vehicles and equipment use and care.

• Working with the Sustainability team, decide whether a vehicle makes Group environmental standards, and research opportunities to introduce “greener “vehicles across the fleet.

• Oversee the on-site fuelling stations, working to reduce the Fleet’s carbon footprint and environmental impact.

• Responsible for all aspects of operation for vehicle maintenance, managing strict maintenance and servicing schedules to minimise downtime.

• Ensure trackers are fitted to all vehicles across the fleet and monitor fleet utilisation using telematic data providing effective and useful reporting to the Group management teams.

• Assist with the drafting and implementation of effective policies and processes regarding fleet operations.

• Liaise with Finance / Insurance Brokers to ensure the appropriate insurance for Drivers and vehicles is in place, ensuing claims are managed effectively and losses are minimised.

About you

• Proven track record of developing and implementing a fleet strategy with extensive knowledge gained in a fleet management role.

• Data driven with well-developed analytical skills.

• Experienced leader with collaborative approach capable of communicating effectively at a senior level.

• Commercially savvy with proven negotiation skills to achieve best value.

• Demonstrable experience of building and maintaining a vendor programme

• Calm demeanour capable of making important decisions in a pressurised environment.

• Proven project management skills
