Job Description

Godolphin is seeking to recruit a dedicated and passionate Stud Hand to be based at Gainsborough Stud, Newbury, Berkshire and Aston Upthorpe Stud, Didcot, Oxfordshire.  Reporting to the Stud Groom, the job holders will be responsible for horse care and stud maintenance.

Key Tasks:

The care and welfare of thoroughbred breeding stock, including:

• Grooming
• Mucking out
• Assisting the vet/farrier

High standard stud maintenance, including:

• Paddock maintenance
• Machinery operation and maintenance
• Hedge trimming
• Lawn mowing

Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications

• Stud experience
• Knowledge and understanding of thoroughbreds and breeding
• Good communication skills
• Enthusiasm – this role will suit someone with a great attitude who wants to learn
