The John Pearce Foundation (JPF) was established to support John Pearce's favoured charities (those related to palliative care and the racing industry e.g. which support animals and/or people who have been affected by racing) and to continue his successful thoroughbred breeding and racing operations. 

The JPF is looking for a Charity Officer.  The role is four days a week, remote working but with, ideally, one day a week in the London office (based near Victoria/St James's).  

  • Salary £55k FTE plus medical insurance and pension.
  • 4 days a week.
  • Flexible work location; ideally, one day a week in the London office (near St James’ Park Tube station).

The JP Foundation (JPF) is responsible for making donations to:

  • Palliative care charities; and
  • Charities related to the racing industry such as those which support animals and people who have been affected by racing

The role involves:

  • Soliciting and responding to unsolicited approaches from in scope charities in need of a JPF donation.
  • Liaising with, assessing and, where necessary, travelling to such applicants who appear interesting.
  • Drafting a report on possible donation recipients; sharing the report and supporting information with the Trustees on an ad hoc basis and/or at the Trustee meetings.
  • Liaising with chosen charities to arrange donations.
  • Monitoring donation recipients, including (where necessary) travelling to assess and confirm outcomes.
  • Drafting and sending a fortnightly update email to the Trustees covering live donations, prospective donations, administrative matters, relevant financial aspects, ad hoc news.
  • Organising the quarterly Trustee meeting including venue, donation recipient visits and a Trustee meeting pack (minutes, past donation update, financial update, detail on prospective recipients etc). Presenting meeting materials to the Trustees and acting as secretary to the meeting (including minute taking).
  • Maintenance of required Trust records including the Foundation software, ThankQ.
  • Working with the Foundation’s lawyers, ensure compliance with statutory and Charity Commission requirements.
  • Working with the Foundation’s CFO, bankers and accountants, maintenance of proper and accurate banking and accounting, including the annual audit.
