About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Operations Manager to join our Huntingdon Racecourse team delivering across a varied range of activities across our wide portfolio of events and racedays. This role will be a key leadership role deputising for the General Manager and leading the team to deliver.

The Operations Manager will

• Lead daily operations at Huntingdon Racecourse, ensuring the site meets world-class standards as the premises supervisor.

• Champion Health & Safety, overseeing daily compliance and actively managing safety across the site.

• Proactively identify risks and implement control measures to mitigate issues before they escalate.

• Drive seamless delivery of racing and event needs, ensuring efficient, cost-effective operations that exceed customer expectations.

• Coordinate cross-functional teams to execute operational tasks on time, with clear responsibilities.

• Act as Duty Manager during events, ensuring top-tier safety and venue presentation through rigorous daily checks.

• Deputize for the General Manager, playing a key role in the Huntingdon Racecourse management team.

• Manage the operations budget, certify invoices, and control expenditures to enhance profitability.

• Foster a collaborative environment, ensuring clear communication and information sharing across teams.

• Collaborate with partners to develop and approve security, stewarding, cleaning, and traffic plans, delivering safe, high-quality events.

• Ensure robust contingency plans, event medical support, radio communications, and control room operations are in place for all events and race days.

• Effective communicator with a hands-on approach, influencing positive business decisions.

• Experienced leader, skilled at motivating teams to achieve results.

• Collaborative team player, working seamlessly with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

• Commercially aware, with experience managing substantial budgets.

• Proactive, taking ownership and responsibility with a practical approach.

• Logical thinker, adept at using initiative to identify risks and resolve issues.

• Strong knowledge of professional service practices.

• Proven experience in managing large-scale events.
