Stud Hand

Job Description

Due to staff retirements and ahead of the new breeding season, Godolphin is seeking to recruit 4 dedicated and passionate Stud Hand’s to work across our Newmarket studs. Reporting to the Stud Groom, the job holders will be responsible for horse care and stud maintenance.

A normal day will involve being responsible for the care and welfare of our thoroughbred breeding stock, including handling of mares/foals/youngstock, grooming, mucking out and assisting the vet/ farrier. Plus ensuring a high standard of stud maintenance, including paddock maintenance, machinery operation and maintenance, hedge trimming and lawn mowing.

Qualifications

• Full driving licence
• Stud and Yearling experience
• Knowledge and understanding of thoroughbreds and breeding
• Good communication skills
• Enthusiasm – this role will suit someone with a great attitude who wants to learn
