A 6-week residential training programme for individuals with little to no equine experience that wish to gain the knowledge and skill set which will enable them to be employed in the bloodstock industry. Participants will attain good horse husbandry skills with particular focus on foaling, handling youngstock and working with thoroughbreds in and out of training. 

Successful completion can lead to full-time employment on a reputable stud farm or onto the National Stud's Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship or Level 3 Stud Management & Sales Consignment course. Individuals will also receive a 1st 4sport Level 1 diploma in work-based racehorse care. 

Requirements

  • Applicants must be 18 years or older by the course start date.
  • No equine experience required
  • No previous formal qualifications required.
