Here at Picks from the Paddock we have over 12 years experience in the racing media industry with previous PFTP alumni going on to work for the likes of the Racing Post and Sportinglife.com

Let us outline from the get-go that this position would be on a voluntary, unpaid basis.

We appreciate that many people will see the voluntary status of this role and stop reading from this point onwards however if you continue to read further let us explain things in greater detail.

All we would expect from a potential candidate is to commit around 2 hours of their time per week. (This will be a time that works around your own work and family commitments and will include tasks specifically tailored to your own passions and interests)

In Exchange For Your Time We Will Provide:

A platform to showcase your talents and content to over 25,000 people. Provide guidance and advice on improving your work and growing your own media presence. Give you opportunities to try different aspects of the industry. Provide references for future employment within the industry or a similar field. The possibility to have your content published in news outlets.

What Kind Of Person Are We Looking For?

A passionate horse racing fan who’s creative and innovative, with a desire to work in the racing media industry.

You can be based anywhere in the world as this is a completely ‘work from home’ role however most of the work will surround UK and Irish horse racing.

Aged 18+

The Roles:

Currently, we do not have specific roles at PFTP as we are more interested in finding talented people who we can create a specifically tailored role for. We work around you, your talents, your interests and your schedule.

Potential Opportunities Include:

• Hosting or being a guest on a weekly horse racing podcast that we are set to re-launch. Do you feel you have a clear voice, enigmatic personality, strong opinions, great ideas and will come across well on camera?

(Maybe your and some of your friends who also follow racing could make up our new look panel? Especially as you already have that great chemistry, why not all of you apply?)

• Have your own weekly racing column, this could be racing news, race previews or a specific racing niche. If you have an understanding of the sport to a high level and good quality written English skills this could be perfect for you.

• Fancy yourself as a whizz when it comes to social media? Why not help manage our several social media accounts and help us create interesting content!

• Do you have a talent for graphic design and imagery? You could help bring some of our exciting projects to life from a visual standpoint.

•  If none of the above potential roles interests you then why not suggest an aspect of the industry you’d love to be a part of and we will do all we can to create an outlet for you to focus on that specific niche.

Our Expectations:

Although we appreciate that work, family and your life commitments will always take president over any work you do here at PFTP we expect a certain degree of commitment.

We understand things happen that may crop up unexpectedly which may result in you not being able to complete the tasks set out to you, however in this instance, we would expect a degree of communication with the rest of the team to ensure alternative arrangements can be made to cover your tasks.

Furthermore, with very strict deadlines and scheduling we also expect you to meet your allocated deadlines.
