Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Stud Manager to oversee the daily operations of our two purpose built sites in Co Kildare. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in equine management, excellent leadership skills, and a keen eye for the health and performance of all animals in our care.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the stud farm, including overseeing the management of our public foaling unit.
- Liaise with and attract new clients.
- Oversee the health and well-being of all horses on the property, ensuring proper nutrition, veterinary care, and exercise routines where applicable.
- Coordinate the breeding season for both farm owned and client mares and maintaining accurate records throughout.
- Oversee land management to ensure optimal use of resorces.
- Supervise and train staff in best practices for horse handling, care, and stable management.
- Maintain compliance with all industry regulations and standards regarding animal welfare.
- Develop and implement strategic breeding plans to enhance the quality and marketability of our horses.
- Collaborate with veterinarians, farriers, and other professionals to ensure optimal horse health.
- Manage budgets, inventory, and resources effectively to support operational needs.
- Foster a positive and safe work environment for all employees and visitors.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a similar role within the thoroughbred industry.
- Strong knowledge of equine breeding, health, and management practices.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to a positive workplace culture.
- Proficiency in record-keeping and familiarity with relevant software.
- A degree in animal science, equine management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
